About Obohemia

Obohemia is a paradoxical paradise for oboists. Filled with bad puns, bad art, obscure references, and a bizarre sense of humour, it likes to parade around in its sockfeet and dance at bus stops.

Ren is Esther Wheaton, a composer and oboist who recently finished her first degree at Wilfrid Laurier University. She likes Indie music (in addition to classical), maps, bright colours, the Internet, and Love. You can add her on Facebook, follow her on Twitter, or send her email. Probably.

Renegade Oboes is Ren’s comic. It used to be essentially an xkcd ripoff, and Ren admits to that readily. It was puns and stick people, and terrible jokes that caricature everyone and tell about life as an oboist. Now it is not just stick people (although still sometimes), and the humour has moved on to bigger and better things–music theory, music history, and Crazy Times at a Symphony. Sometimes it overuses punctuation! (But intelligently. Always intelligently.)

My Oboe Insanity is Moy’s (retired) comic. It shows what life in the studio is like, and also what life inside Moy’s head is like. Everyone wanted to be in one of Moy’s comics, but then she fell off the face of the Earth.
