Well hello! I realize it has been a while since I’ve blogged, and I am sorry–but not really, because I was trying to leave that Open Ears blog directory at the top of the page for As Long As Possible. I have updated it some today! There are a bunch of new links down near the bottom.

What have I been up to lately? WELL. I have been working a couple of part-time jobs, working on a piece called “Tohubohu and Brouhaha” which is for the WLUSO brass and percussion sections, re-reading old favourite novels, and going for excessively long walks. But that’s not all.

I’m going into my final year at Laurier, and as I am a composer, I have to write a final work–it takes the place of a thesis or grad recital, you see. Of course, I can’t just keep my creative impulses to the required minimum, I have to use this as an excuse to do something I really want to do! And what I want to do is: compose an album. So I am! I have had my concept approved by Linda and Peter, and have begun work on it. And in order to keep myself honest, and give this project the same kind of online-connectivity that all my other projects have, I have started a blog for it. It is here. It is now. It is not a trap. I am excited about it, although I’m sure I’ll be kicking myself come the fall for diving into something so complicated.

As for Obohemia, I’m still updating! Comics go up every Tuesday and Friday this summer (hopefully back to Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday in September), and I have planned an epic, summer-long adventure to fill the low-pun season. “The Quest for the Perfect Reed” will include all the characters pictured here, so that ought to give you a small taste of the scope of the thing. I hope you enjoy it!

Finally, someone made a collection of the best oboe photos on Flickr. One of my comics is there! I would feel flattered, except I am not sure if it was a computer or a person who made the page.
