   I think bass players would take it the best, other musicians would probably throw some sort of large-scale diva fit in the middle of a concert and storm off or start screaming.

   Possibly. In the first stands, probably, but when you get to the back of any section, people tend to lighten up a bit.

   True. If you pick the right piece the low brass may even throw it back as a result of the extreme boredom they experience while waiting for the coda of the last movement when they’ll finally get to play.
